Os brasileiros tiveram melhor sorte este ano: o espaço Brazilian Pavilion na feira de startups do evento Disrupt (promovido pelo TechCrunch em San Francisco esta semana) estava “menos escondida” – na verdade, estava bem “na cara” de quem entrava no evento. Nesta terceira edição do Pavilion, não teve desculpa como nas outras duas, em que vi muita gente reclamando da falta de visitantes nos estandes. Ainda: com a quantidade de entidades e mentores fazendo treinamento com os empreendedores, a qualidade este ano certamente esteve mais alta, causando uma melhor impressão sobre o Brasil.

Vinte e seis empresas selecionadas, mais duas indicadas por votação popular, concorreram ao prêmio de 50 mil dólares (e um troféu) da competição Startup Battlefield. Os finalistas foram Alfred (que ficou em primeiro lugar), Partpic, PatternEQ, Shipstr (que ficou em segundo ligar), Stack e Vinli. Veja abaixo o vencedor e o vice apresentando seus pitches.

O Disrupt também contou com a tradicional maratona de programação (hackathon), na qual sagrou-se campeã a solução Shower with friends, um hardware conectado criado pela Mashery, uma equipe de serviços da Intel. Veja vídeo abaixo. Em segundo lugar, ficaram o aplicativo de atalhos para iOS Blitz e a extensão para navegador Chrome chamada de Interactive Markdown. Dois brasileiros, Roberto Civille e Fernando Freitas Alves (da startup DoingCast), desenvolveram um hack e venceram o destaque oferecido pela Concur.

Adyen Tech Globe Challenge: esta competição visa a identificar startups com potencial de se tornarem globais e aconteceu dentro do Disrupt. A startup brasileira Piggme esteve entre as finalistas, junto com Ansamb, Belleds Technologies, DoctorQuickly, Instapet, Sentri, Oscar Tech Overwatch e Nod Labs (que venceu).
