Introduced as a “truly social marketplace”, BeamSnap lets you buy and sell items as you would on a site such as eBay, while getting to interact with what’s being sold (and the ones who’re selling it) in ways that’d make you think of something like Facebook. Not only can you post your items and buy the ones that others have posted, you can actually share what others are selling and be rewarded for doing so. That’s where the “social” element comes in, the site encourages you to spread listings with all the friends and contacts you might have on sites like Facebook, Twitter and so on. If they buy anything you’ve shared, then you’ll get a commission. And the social side of the site is also felt in how you can follow other users, and in how they can follow you in turn. The more people that follow you, the better off you’ll be when selling anything, as that’s more folks to whom your listings will be automatically broadcast (or “beamed”, to use the right expression).
